5 Ways to Survive a Horror Movie

Watching movies is a great activity to pass the time. Most of us enjoys a good movie paired with delicious snacks while comfortably sitting on a fluffy couch and cuddled up on our blankets. It is one way of finding relaxation in a very stressful day. There are a lot of movie genres to choose from, such as romantic comedy, anime, fantasy, sci-fi, drama, adventure, cartoons and, of course, horror. But if watching horrifying and spooky stuffs aren’t for you – then a good horror movie will really give the right amount of chills and scare to keep your heart pumping.

Locally produced Singaporean horror movie entitled After Images has gained the “Best Feature Award” given by an award-giving body in Pennsylvania, United States. This movie directed by Tony Kern received a high appreciation not just from local audiences but also to the international movie viewers. This movie is too spooky that you should be brave enough to finish the whole film. But if you are the kind who has this fear in watching scary movies like this, here are five simple ways for you to survive a horror movie:

  1. Be Equipped

Having the right equipment is a must.  If you are not so brave to fully watch the movie with your bare eyes, I suggest you get yourself something to cover them up when that spooky scene starts to give you chills. Grab a pillow or a cuddly Teddy Bear that you can hug, squeeze or use as your eye cover when the ghost and monster starts to appear. Well, I bet you know when they’re about to come out – the musical scoring will give you clues right? So when the music starts to come in silence and all you can hear is the protagonist’s heavy breathing, footsteps or heartbeat, that’s when you know you should have your equipment ready on the go.

  1. Have Snacks Ready

Eat the scare away. Without a doubt, food is always our comfort provider. Whether we are sad, happy, doubtful, overjoyed, and miserable or scared, we want to find refuge in eating our favorite meals or snacks to help us feel okay. It is basically the same as for watching a horror film, to make yourself at ease go and get a bucket of freshly cooked popcorn, or a nice crispy potato chips, a can of soda or juice  – just anything that will make you feel comfortable and safe again. Also, watching horror movie while eating can lessen up your tendency to become too scared. Hey, if an apple can keep the doctor’s away, the snacks can also keep the scare away.michigan-man-sues-movie-theater-for-overpriced-snacks

  1. Watch With Your Best Mates

Scaring is fun with your friends around. What better way to watch a horror film is to watch it together with your whole army of fun squad? It is always even better to do things and share moments with your best buddies – be it in watching a horror movie, or doing sports, or basically anything that you find entertaining.  If you have your friends around, you can have either the support – when you are scared or the motivator – to urge you to become strong and fight your fears. Either ways, just having them around make things better.

  1. Keep Yourself Busy

If you can’t fight it; get away from it! Admitting in yourself that you are scared is one step closer in considering yourself brave. But really, if horror movies are not really your thing and fighting the urge to scream and cover up is too hard for you then find something else to do while the film is on. Hey keep yourself busy! When you feel like the climax or the scary part is about to blow up – find your phone, open your Instagram account, visit your Facebook, make a musical.ly video, facetime a far flung friend, smule and have a collaboration with a mate – literally just do anything to make you feel okay 

  1. Have fun and enjoy

Turn scary into funny. Just because the movie itself is scary does not mean that everything in the movie is totally and way too scary. Like every other movie, there is always a hidden fun in those creepy movies and all you have to do is to become a very vigilant viewer. Example, take notice of the make-up of the ghost, if it’s too white as if she drank a bottle of glutathione or something. Anything – anything that you think is funny and laugh about to overcome your fear. Try it – and see the results for yourself.

So, the next time you visit a mall, take a glance at the cosmetics section and you’ll see different types of male facial enhancements. There is no definite reason why this is happening but most people say that it is part of the technological advances or sometimes, it’s just the fact that many men turned into gays. More males are now attracted to wearing make-up. It’s like yesterday; men are thinking or reading about shaving creams and products.

But since these facial stuffs (for men) are clinically proven and tested, more men are now applying it rather than continue using the old-time shaving foam. So, if you are a man? Will you still use shaving products or just follow the trend?

In a period where looks are of extreme importance, it is really surprising that men are more interested using facial products (we are not talking about men’s facials stuffs) such as concealers, foundations, moisturizers, eye liners, blush-on and more. Traditionally, males are characterised are strong and protective. But in this era, numerous men are becoming sensitive to their skin making them criticised by other people. But when a man shows his make-up visibly, it’s another story because only women do that.
